That is correct. Jesse will be working the Crystal Lake location tomorrow. This will begin part of a shifting schedule so the store can receive equal treatment and processing time. Tomorrow the staff will be building tables and adding additional product. See you there!

Recommended Read – James Bond: Vargr
This week I am going to spot lite a series that I am reading called James Bond. Yes, Bond. Usually I have that same reaction with most Bond comics, but this title was launched at the same time the Spectre Bond film was released so it caught my attention. Warren Ellis writes the series and included the Spectre organization in the plot. Given the title of the film that made me curious enough to commit a mini series slot to the first story arc called Vargr. Since my Norwegian is non-existent, even though I actually went there, I had to look it up. Vargr basically is a wolf with the additional note of ferocity or harm doing intent.
The basic story is our typical Bond versus a dangerous organization releasing a clinically lethal drug. Both the MI-5 and MI-6 organizations are trying to prevent it, which provides disposable characters and conflict to the plot. The character villains role into the story and the artist (Jason Masters) does a really nice job keeping nationalities clear. The Norwegians villains look different than the English agents throughout the issue making it easier to follow the action. Masters also added prosthetic limbs on characters which are noticeable but only if you are really looking for it. That was nice for die hard fans who look for the henchman identifying traits such as metal teeth, killer hats, etc… The rolling action makes the prosthetic limbs obvious but it was nice to not have it thrown at you like you can not look at the panels and still read.
The action is true to Bond stories which I really liked. Finishing pistol shots to downed villains emphasize the “licensed to kill” note that is often lost in the films. It was really nice to have that added and show the more direct side of James Bond and the necessity for not letting his involvement leak back to the organization. The only minus in the plot and artwork for me was the constant travel back to the home office. I would have rather had a safe house with the supportive agent than the added “Q” appearances but it may just be my person preference. The added character usually makes it more of an “organization” than just a “one man” for me.
The plot does resolve well with the title linking into the story. Vargr was easily picked as a person in charge of the Spectre organization but Ellis has it be the name of a Norwegian military vessel. Given the title “Wolf” would be a hunting ship and, in this case, the source of the drug creation. Overall a really nice Bond story and definitely good enough for me to read the second story that I just paid for.
Nerd Alert: Development Update 1.3.0
Let’s get right into it. We’ve rolled out some great things since the last release.
Checkout
You may have noticed your checkout happens in a matter of seconds. Huzzah! We worked with the team over at WooCommerce to make this happen. Times will vary obviously, but in my testing I was able to checkout with 300 products in less than 7 seconds.
Weekly Pickups
Every Wednesday you will receive an email with all of your pickups for the week. On top of that, you can also navigate to your Account Dashboard at any time and see your pickups from last week, this week, and next week. This was a big feature that we wanted to implement, and we’re thrilled to have it out in the wild. Let me know if there are any issues with it. In the mean time, head over to your Dashboard to check it out.
Nerd Alert: Development Update 1.2.0
In an effort to keep everyone apprised of the happenings and goings on here on the website, Jesse and I have decided to blog about new updates to the site.
First, my name is Jake Caputo. I’m a designer and developer working out of DesignCrumbs.com and I’m the Director of Design at ActionNetwork.org. More importantly, I read a lot of comics. I’ve been a Modern Age Comics customer since 2013. Jesse asked if I’d build a new site for him, and here we are. I take care of the user interface and the frontend development, while my partner on this site, Spencer Finnell, has been doing a lot on the backend development.
We have a simple goal: Make the pull list easier for both sides of the Modern Age Comics counter.
Since we launched a few weeks ago, we’ve been adding features and smashing bugs like:
So without further ado, here’s a quick timeline including most of the features and bug fixes we’ve made. I hope to continue blog posts like this with each future release.
Feed back for week ending 1-21 from first group
Everyone,
FYI, Internet Explorer users will have some trouble. For now, please use Google Chrome if you can.
This Wednesday 1/25 releases have been added. You may pick your items if you want, we will compare it to your current service (manual or Comixology) to double check it.
Adult content items will be removed going forward. We do not have security filters on that yet and it also is a minimal use product. If you want these, just send an email or let me know.
We have had a few requests for subscription buttons. Down the road will will look at it but we wanted to get data in first and see what is what. Not out of the question, just not there currently.
Nothing is unimportant. This only gets better is we use it and communicate.
DC’s Batman/Flash Crossover Ships in April with Lenticular Covers
This April, explore the greatest mystery of DC Universe: Rebirth in “The Button,” a four-part event starring Batman and the Flash! Adding to the excitement surrounding this story, these special issues each will feature a new, lenticular cover!
Because of the accelerated production schedule for lenticular covers, DC is soliciting these issues outside of the PREVIEWS Order Form.
The Dark Knight and The Fastest Man Alive, the two greatest detectives on any world, unite to explore the mystery behind a certain blood-stained smiley button embedded in the Batcave wall. What starts as a simple investigation turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party-and it’s not who anyone suspects! It’s a mystery woven through time, and the ticking clock starts here!
The four-part epic “The Button” begins in Batman #21 and The Flash #21 in April, and continues in Batman #22 and The Flash #22 in May.
Beta Test Feedback is greatly appreciated
Guys,
First thank you for spending the time and helping with the testing. It is easy to lose time when trying to work on function and still pay attention to the entry pieces.
Second, nothing is unimportant. Tell us anything you do not like or that is missing.
I appreciate the kind remarks for Jake, I will be sure to express them as often as possible.
Cheers!
