Savage Avengers continues to keep a vigorous and savage pace. Conan breaks into another area and continues to hack his way into Marvel. This time meeting Brother Voodoo and the symbiote known as venow. Those of you who just want a violent escape for 20 minutes may want to pick this title up now before it moves forward any further.

Superman Leviathan was a good start to create a mystery, and we know I love a good mystery. I will read this one through the upcoming mini series, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, both which were introduced in this issue. Lois will be the feature character for the overall story with Greg Rucka writing her part of it. Look for strong female character and a whole lot of defiance in our future.

Catwoman #4 is less Catwoman and more Selina Kyle. The issue visits older characters and events which previously were left as loose ends. Long term readers should spend the time, new people can skip it if you want but it may come back to us again later.

Mr & Mrs X #11 just keeps drawing me back. Nineties X-Men fans should be reading this positive additive to the stories we always wanted to have finished. Gambit, Rogue,, Mojo, Belladonna and the Elemental!

This week I ran out of time but squeezed in a few things I wanted to get back to. Daredevil #6 was the best of them, giving it a consistent spot on the list. This issue was the transition to a word without Daredevil with villains and victims alike dealing with his absence. The image on the last page definitely is well thought out and well placed.

The other is Dead Hand #1. I have read this before and left it due to operational requirements and have wanted to go back ever since. Look for the rest of it over the next few weeks as I feel it is worth another reading. With our nation and Russia in the current turmoil, the book echoes with intrigue versus espionage.

  • Avengers #716 No Road Home part 9
  • Dead Hand #1
  • Dead Hand #2
  • Daredevil #6
  • Heroes In Crisis #9

Daredevil #5. This issue is arguably the best so far in the run, which is saying a good deal. The injection of Peter Parker as the conscience to the arc is simply just excellent plot development. Not reading the title, just order the graphic novel now, you will likely wait a very long while for a Daredevil story this good.

High Level #4. This is a good example of changing a setting in a book and having it serve a purpose. The characters are separated, placed in a corrupt environment and resolve it by using the societies’ reason for independence to resolve it. Depravity at its worst corrected by its own mode

This group was pretty under whelming. The first three are titles that simply seem done to do them. The War of the Realms books are all standard and progress the story. The Uncanny X-men tie in is a good blend of the X-men into the story without complicating them.  Mirage is a Valkyrie is a solid part of the story and the conflict to help her is pretty cool.

Cemetery Beach is simply just another good issue in a fun ride.

Not a lot to talk about in the list. My two choices are just solid books that continue the theme and stories with good writing techniques. We added the all ages Catwoman OGN Under The Moon which was good but had a few weak points.

It should be no surprise to most of you that Bad Luck Chuck #2 has one of the top picks for the week. The book continued to keep my attention and actually added some emotional content to the character. The last page in particular was a powerful ending that reinforced the prior pages.

The second spot I gave to Star Trek Waypoint #1. The past few Star Trek titles have been well received by the fan base and this one will likely be as well. Containing several unique stories, the book covers the gambit of generational characters and adventures. Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and even the original series get a mini stories set to satisfy avid fans. Star Trek Five was on the list as well, but this one had a more broad appeal.

Short and simple this week. The two blue dot items this week both made me want to keep reading, which is the first requirement to make the selection. The second requirement is that in both choices, one of the characters enhanced the content of story, but also enhanced the character themselves.

First, War of the Realms: Punisher #1. Obviously during an invasion Frank Castle is going to use a lot of ammunition. When confronted with an moral accusation and a dangerous situation, Frank uses his reputation and valor to bring about a solution to the problem rather than just a weapon. A three issue tie in to the main War of the Realms story that actually was worth the extra money, who knew. I am in for issue #2.

Second, Daredevil #4. Who would have thought I actually would select not one, but two, Frank Castle story lines as having enough merit to read back to back. Having never been a fan of the character, his involvement in the current Daredevil story has added depth to both himself and Matt Murdock. The character comparison between the two is highlighted in this issue, and though Castle is out after the conclusion, I enjoyed 22 pages of character based story without the added bullets.

  • Daredevil #4
  • Guardians of the Galaxy #4
  • Pearl #8
  • Meet the Skulls #3
  • Catwoman #3
  • Asguardians #8
  • Cemetery Beach #3
  • Winter Soldier #4
  • War of the Realms War Scrolls #1
  • War of the Realms Punisher #1
  • War of the Realms #2
  • Spiderman Life Story #2
  • Middlewest #6
  • Naomi #4
  • High Level #3
  • Ronin Island #2

  • Avengers No Road Home #5
